Zone 4000 of the Alps
Punta Gnifetti, which does not present particular difficulties from its western side, is instead extremely steep towards the south-eastern. The north-eastern side towards Vallanzasca is the highest, with huge seracs, the side which falls towards Val Sesia is the most vertical. The Signal ridge marks the boundary between these two slopes and the corresponding valleys.
Technical description
This ridge, surrounded by an extremely wild and solitary environment, reaches one of the most visited 4000 of all the Alps. The access point to the ridge is Rifugio Resegotti (3624 m), which is not actually a refuge, but a bivouac, located directly on the south ridge of Colle Signal. The climb takes place on a very sharp, snowy ridge, while in the upper part it turns into a rocky ridge
