The Stelvio National Park is located in the central Alps and covers an area of 1350 km² (520 km² belong to the South Tyrolean area involved in the project); with its side valleys it surrounds the entire Ortles-Cevedale massif.
The Stelvio National Park extends from the valley floor to the mountain and subalpine woods, and more, to the wide alpine landscapes up to the areas with peaks covered by ice (Ortles 3,905 m). To the North, the Stelvio National Park borders directly with the Swiss National Park and to the South with the Adamello Regional Park, in Lombardy.
